A scarce late-war example marked ‘44 CQH’, with matching number ‘963’ to both the piece and its scabbard. This variant represents the simplified wartime design, featuring the distinctive late-production Bakelite grip panels, secured with uncommon rivets rather than standard screws. The surface has been cleaned of its original finish, and the point subtly re-profiled — typical of late-war field modifications.
The retaining system functions correctly, with traces of the Waffenamt acceptance mark still visible on the upper pommel. The scabbard, also marked ‘44 CQH’, shows minor indentations consistent with careful use and age.
An excellent example of late-war German manufacture, showcasing the transition to more economical materials and production methods during the final phase of the conflict.
