An outstanding and virtually unworn example of a Kriegsmarine senior officer’s white-top visor cap, retaining its original shape, finish, and fine detailing throughout. This classic removable-top cap is crafted from standard white cotton fabric and features the full complement of high-quality insignia and trim.
The front is adorned with a finely gilded Kriegsmarine eagle and gold bullion-wire national cockade, set above the removable dark blue centre band and regulation naval chinstrap, secured by twin gilded anchor side buttons. The bullion-wire trim along the peak’s edge has gently toned to a distinguished silver-grey hue with age.
Internally, the cap remains in exceptional condition. The mid-tan leather sweatband is fully intact and still carries its original price tag, though the lettering is now faded. The light cream rayon lining is clean and complete with an undamaged celluloid lozenge. While the size marking is unclear, testing suggests it is approximately size 57 or 58.
A superb, near-pristine example of Kriegsmarine officer headgear—exceptionally well-preserved and highly desirable.
