An exceptional and very large example (approx. size 61) of the Kriegsmarine senior officer’s blue top visor cap, showcasing the classic high naval profile and crisp lines associated with wartime manufacture. This cap remains in outstanding condition, with no signs of moth or damage to the dark blue wool top, which is firmly and correctly affixed.
Fitted with a beautifully matched set of Cellon national eagle and cockade, along with the standard Kriegsmarine black chinstrap secured by gilt anchor side buttons. The peak features a well-preserved band of gold bullion wire denoting senior officer rank, showing only minor handling wear. The interior is equally fine, retaining its mid-tan leather sweatband with just light signs of service use.
The deep blue rayon lining remains excellent, complete with an undamaged clear celluloid sweatshield. A period paper label is still tucked behind the sweatband, though left unmarked with name or size. A superb example of a senior naval officer’s visor cap—difficult to find in this size and condition, and highly desirable for display.
