German WWII Kriegsmarine Officers Display Piece

An elegant and well-preserved example of a Kriegsmarine officer’s display piece, featuring the standard naval etching by the renowned firm Eickhorn and retaining its original leather washer. The fit between hilt and scabbard is tight and precise, reflecting excellent craftsmanship. The gilt finish on the eagle pommel, cross guard, and scabbard remains bright and even, with no indentations to the lower section.

The celluloid grip is fully intact with its original wire in place, complemented by the silver portepee knot still wrapped in its period configuration, showing only light oxidisation. Included is a matching set of aluminium buckled straps, both lion heads bearing the starburst maker’s mark to the reverse. The strapping remains supple and unfaded, with all four sprung-loaded gilded clips functioning perfectly, and the small steadying chain still retaining its gold-toned wash. A particularly fine and complete example.
