German WWII Kriegsmarine Gas Mask and Case

A scarce example of Kriegsmarine-issued equipment, this complete gas mask set features the standard Armed Forces model housed in its original metal container. Unusually, both the mask and case were factory finished in Dunkelgelb, later overpainted in Kriegsmarine battleship grey—a rare variation seldom encountered, as most examples were produced in field grey-green.

The paint shows light service chipping consistent with age and use. The mask retains its Dunkelgelb eyepieces, complete canvas and head strapping, and is marked ‘FD 42’ to the filter top. The spare lens container lid bears a faint maker’s triangular stamp and ‘43’ date. A very complete and desirable Kriegsmarine example.
