German WWII Kriegsmarine Auxiliary Cruiser Badge

This is a high-quality example of the Auxiliary Cruiser Badge (Kriegsabzeichen fur Hilfskreuzer), produced by the prestigious and highly regarded manufacturer Schwerin of Berlin. This award was bestowed upon crews of merchant cruisers for successful long-range commerce raiding operations.

The badge exhibits the fine craftsmanship typical of this maker. While the gilt finish on the wreath has thinned over time, it remains consistent across the surface. The central motif, featuring a Viking ship sailing across a globe, retains excellent deep detail and crisp lines.

The reverse side of the badge is also in good condition, retaining much of its original finish. It is complete with the original pin, hook, and hinge assembly, all of which remain fully functional. The maker's mark, Schwerin Berlin, is clearly visible in raised relief on the back. .
