A complete white summer uniform belonging to Obermatrose Wilhelm Ziegler, killed at Sebastopol, Russia, on 7 May 1944 during a massive Russian attack with aerial support. Ziegler was born in Upper Silesia in 1915 (now part of Poland). The set comprises a white top deck cap in excellent condition, possibly size 56, with separately applied Kriegsmarine eagle, swastika, and cockade. The interior features a standard red-on-white embroidered naval label with the name “Ziegler.” Full-length Kriegsmarine cap tally with tails intact, mid-tan leather sweatband showing minor wear, and gold rayon inner lining with faint traces of a retailer’s silver block beneath the centre celluloid lozenge (cracked in one place). White naval summer shirt with Ostsee markings and a second label “Ziegler,” black ink-stamped B.A.K. 1936 date, complete with neck piece, Bevo woven blue-on-white eagle, and drivers badge to the left sleeve. Accompanied by matching white summer trousers with corresponding labels and Ostsee numbers.
