German WWII Kriegsmarine 1st Pattern E-Boat Badge

This is a rare 1st pattern Schnellbootkriegsabzeichen (E-Boat War Badge) produced by the prestigious maker Schwerin of Berlin. The 1st pattern is distinguished by its shorter, more compact boat design compared to the later 2nd pattern variant.

The badge is constructed with a gilded wreath that shows slightly faded gilt on the highlights, while a significant majority of the original silver finish remains intact on the E-Boat itself. The reverse side retains nearly all of its original blackened finish. The hardware is complete and original, featuring the pin, hook, hinge, and the specific uniform retaining hook located at the top of the badge.
