An exceptional Second World War Japanese NCO display piece, notable for its outstanding overall condition, far exceeding what is usually encountered for this type. The finish shows very little wear, with only slight thinness to the paint around the carrying ring, consistent with period handling and contact with the suspension chain or belt. The metal surfaces remain crisp and clean, and the paintwork to the hilt area is virtually complete.
All numbered components are matching, with the number ‘75729’ clearly present to both the upper section of the metalwork and the throat of the scabbard. Japanese acceptance marks are visible to the ring at the base of the hilt. Overall, this is an extremely high-quality example, and it would be very difficult to find a better-preserved display piece of this type.
