GERMAN WWII JAGER OFFICERS PARADE TUNIC

A highly interesting tunic, being the standard parade tunic cut with mountain green waffenfarbe. The shoulder boards to the rank of Leutnant, with mountain green underlay and matching officers collar patches. Beautiful condition officers heavy wire breast eagle, mountain green piped collar and lower cuffs. One moth nip on the front of the tunic adjacent to the third button from the bottom and another one in a similar position on the reverse panel. Four loops for a medium size medal ribbon bar to the upper right breast and two loops for one award to the lower right breast as the tunic is viewed. All original buttons complete. Excellent nap to the cloth overall. A tailor’s label from the City of Kassel to the upper inner lining. To the inner pocket is a matching tailor’s identification label to a Lieutenant in J.R.15 dated ‘April 1936’. An interesting feature of this tunic is that Infantry Regiment 15’s garrison town was Kassel; the 3rd Battalion of this Infantry Regiment were officially designated as a Jager Battalion, it carried that name in the honour of the Old Kurhessisches Jager Battalion 11 and subsequently wore mountain troop coloured piping. The regiment was part of the 5th Infantry Division and fought in Poland in 39 then in France in 1940, and later on the Eastern Front.
