A service-worn and named example of the German Cross in Gold, marked “20” for manufacture by C.F. Zimmermann. This award was issued to Feldwebel Hoet of the 39th Infantry Division. The gilt finish to the 1941-dated wreath is now gently dulled with age, while the black rays retain most of their original finish, particularly strong in the lower fields. High points show light rubbing from wear, and the central black enamel swastika remains intact, with only minor surface scratches to its raised areas.

The reverse displays the standard wide tapering pin, with original hinge and catch fully present. Four hollow rivets are visible, typical of Zimmermann production. Unusually, this example bears a hand-applied inscription to the left-hand side, identifying the recipient as “Hoet.” The spelling is based on a careful reading of the engraving but may vary slightly upon further research.

A fine, worn example of a prestigious combat decoration, complete with identifiable provenance and strong character from frontline service.
