German WWII German Cross in Gold, Cased

A fine example of a Zimmermann & Co. produced German Cross in gold, marked number ‘20’. The classic construction features four domed hollow rivets, a wide tapering pin, and original hook and hinge. The 1941-dated wreath retains good gilt, with excellent enamels throughout. All black finish remains on the rays, and virtually all silver finish to the star behind the rays is intact. The red enamel of the disc beneath the wreath is complete and undamaged. Fitted in its original gold-lined presentation box, showing minor scuffing to the edges and an impression of the wreath on the upper inner lid.
