A rare helmet from the period of the Freikorps just post-WWI, the skull is manufacturer-stamped ‘TJ66’. Dark apple green, some minor dents to the crown area with the black and yellow painted joint band around the lower bowl, which are the colours of Freikorps Munich. The helmet is fitted with its complete three-pad leather liner, which does have grey felt pads inside the leather, which we believe to be a later collector addition. The original drawstring is fitted to two of the liner pads, the third liner pad having its tips broken. Fitted with its original brown leather strap and carbine clip strap, to the edge of the carbine clip is the last section of a Dresden manufacturer's stamping. The interior of the strap itself retains much original, unfinished light green colour. Attached to the strap posts is an old 1970s-period Dyno print label with a typewritten description ‘Freikorps Munich’ on a plastic strip; on the inside is an inventory number of ‘66’ in a collection. The book that the helmet appears in, which is Baer page 85, has an annotation that it was bought at the Stuttgart Waffenborse in 1987. A rare helmet.
