German WWII Ex-Austrian WWI M17 Army Double Decal Transitional Helmet

An early reissue Austrian M17 helmet shell, repurposed by the Wehrmacht in the early 1930s. Though the shell size is not visibly stamped, the liner is marked as size 57. Factory-repainted in apple green, it retains twin Army decals—both fully intact with only light rust bleed present across the surface. Additional rust bleed can be seen around the visor area, consistent with age and service.

The original M35-style liner retaining rivet heads remain in place, still holding nearly all of their apple green paint. Internally, the helmet has been fitted with an M35 liner system in soft, supple light tan leather, complete with its original drawstring. A nicely preserved 1939-dated chinstrap is also present, completing this fine example of a rare transitional combat helmet.
