An elegant and visually commanding WWII-period ceremonial display item, typically associated with early SS formal attire. This example represents one of the more refined pieces from the period, featuring a long, plated central element measuring approximately 105cm in total length, with a bright, unmarked finish and original fitted separator still in place beneath the upper hilt.
The upper and lower fittings exhibit classic detailing unique to early SS design language, including crisply defined insignia markings to both the upper throat and lower grip structure. The dark hardwood-style grip section remains undamaged and free from cracking—an uncommon attribute. A small area of lifting to the plated finish near the grip reflects natural age and storage wear, but does not detract from its overall presence.
Housed in its original black-painted casing, the piece retains both upper and lower decorative mounts in nickel-finish with secure suspension ring still affixed. The fit between the main body and the casing remains tight and well-aligned, suggesting minimal handling since the period of origin.
A striking historical display piece with considerable visual impact, ideal for wall-mount presentation or inclusion in a curated collection of German WWII-era formal regalia and field equipment.
