A superb and highly detailed WWII-period utility item, often incorrectly referred to in historical texts as a machine operator’s tool. This example is among the finest we've handled, featuring a distinctive Bowie-style main component with original cross-grain finish, a steel oval guard, and excellent condition Bakelite-style grips—undamaged and free from wear.
The integrated multi-tool elements are all intact, retaining full original finish, housed in the period black-painted casing with spring-loaded attachment clip. The casing shows only minimal wear at the tip, consistent with age and careful storage.
Ideal as a wall-mounted decorator for collectors of military field gear or historical engineering equipment; a visually striking and rare period piece.
