A beautiful example of the 1943 pattern of Eagle Order 1st Class. The ring is marked ‘900 21’ enamels are perfectly undamaged to both sides of the Maltese style cross. The enamels surrounding the swastikas within the claws of the eagle are also totally undamaged on both sides. The ribbon is stiff and firm with its neck ties. The Order is laid into its black velvet compartmentalised lower case. The lettering to the upper inner satin material of the lid reads ‘VERDIENSTKREUS 1. STUFE DES ORDENS VON DEUTSCHEN ADLER’. The exterior of the case has the gold line running around the edges. The gilt to the central eagle is superb and the catch is absolutely complete. Minor scuffing to the base of the box and one light scratch to the outer lid otherwise excellent.
