A good-sized officer's overseas cap constructed in the soft Melton material, with some minor moth tracking. Silver waffenfarbe to both sides of the upper envelope, also to the front scallop of the cap. Faintly stamped ‘57’ to the interior with the faint remains of a large maker's stamp with a semi-clear date of ‘1939’. Early silver weave officers' eagle on a lighter green background. The rather degraded officer's bullion wire cockade. Yellow waffenfarbe for cavalry and having a traditional skull of the 41st Cavalry Regiment of the 4th Cavalry Division fitted, which has lost all of its finish. There is also a red rectangular marking on the cap ‘2/13’, the meaning of which is unknown to us. Roman numerals V111 are applied to the inner lining material.
