A rare and dramatic example of a battle-damaged M35 double decal helmet, sized 68 and originally issued in apple green. Approximately 50% of the original paint remains, with both decals faint but partially visible. The rear has sustained a heavy shrapnel strike, piercing both the outer shell and inner leather liner, with the liner showing corresponding holes. The square-edged strap posts are missing, likely removed prior to the damage, and the strap is wrapped around the inner aluminium liner band. The maker’s name and partial date remain visible on the tip of the leather strap passing through its aluminium buckle. The inner rear skirt bears the hand-applied initials “A. Schreiber” in white paint, and the batch number 0001 is clearly visible. This helmet is a compelling relic of combat history.
