An exceptionally rare and highly desirable complete Bahnschutz (Railway Protection Police) uniform from WWII, distinguished by its unique light blue color—the only organization in the Third Reich to use this shade. The uniform comprises the saddle-shaped visor cap, four-pocket tunic, and matching trousers.
The Bahnschutz was formed in 1939, composed of full- and part-time police officers employed by the Reichsbahn, tasked with railway security and countering espionage or sabotage.
Visor Cap: Size-stamped ‘56’, retaining nearly all of its original nap with only a single minor moth nip to the grey waffenfarbe above the distinctive Bahnschutz eagle. Features the unique Bahnschutz national cockade, standard double-buckled leather chinstrap, blue-grey ersatz sweatband (cracked in places), and a full center celluloid lozenge blocked in gold with ‘SONDERKLASSE’. Interior lining in matching blue rayon.
Tunic: Four-pocket, six-button style with winged wheel collar patches, officer-quality shoulder boards with silver regimental number ‘19’, and machine-embroidered white-on-black Bahnschutz arm eagle. Cloth and nap in superb condition, fully intact with no moth damage. Interior lined in matching blue rayon with a partially illegible Bahnschutzpolizei stamp.
Trousers: Light blue, officer-quality smooth ribbed construction with a grey side stripe. Minor peppering of moth in the crotch area. Interior fully lined in matching cotton with a faint Bahnschutzpolizei waistband stamp.
A remarkable survival, combining police, railway, and political history into one complete and highly collectible set.
