An exceptional example of an Austrian World War I M16 helmet thoughtfully converted during the Third Reich era for army use. The exterior shell retains nearly all of its Third Reich-era refinished paint, showcasing a sharp single Army decal with just a minor abrasion on the lower left wing. Inside, the original Austrian chinstrap posts are intact, fitted with a size 57 M40 liner and band. The leather liner is supple, vividly coloured, and stamped size 57, complete with its original drawstring. A maker-marked chinstrap in robust condition is also present. The original owner’s name, likely “Morsors,” is faintly visible. A rare and highly desirable transitional Army helmet variant.
