German WWII Artillery Officers Overseas Cap in Canvas

An exceptionally rare and unusual large-size artillery officers overseas cap, likely size 58–59, crafted in light grey canvas. The crown and front scallop are trimmed with silver waffenfarbe, complemented by a correct silver Bevo-woven officers eagle on a dark green background, with a bullion wire cockade. The cockade shows minor losses to its wire surround, featuring the red inverted artillery waffenfarbe. The interior is fitted with an ersatz-style half-moon sweatband at the forehead, which shows some cracking, while the remainder of the lining is black rayon. The cap exhibits clear signs of wear, attesting to its period use. A highly unusual and desirable example of Third Reich artillery headdress.
