German WWII Artillery Army NCOs Large Size Visor Cap

A beautiful officer-quality saddle-shaped visor cap, featuring the red Waffenfarbe of Artillery and a standard dark green centre band. The main body is constructed from very soft Melton material in field grey-green. There is one minor moth nip to the red Waffenfarbe on the right-hand upper crown area as viewed.

The national eagle and cockade retain their original frosted finish, and the cap is fitted with a standard patent black leather double buckle chinstrap.

Inside, the wide light tan leather sweatband shows expected wear from use and carries a highly unusual gilt-on-green circular manufacturer or retailer’s logo beneath an undamaged centre celluloid lozenge. The sweatband is ink stamped KL 1938. A light cream forehead pad is present, remaining pliable without signs of solidification or liquefaction.

The cap measures approximately size 59 or 60.
