This is an enlisted man's overseas cap (Feldmütze n.A.) featuring the lemon-yellow soutache identifying the wearer as part of the Signals (Nachrichten) branch. The cap is constructed from field-grey wool which retains a significant amount of its original nap.
The side flaps have been stitched into place, which was a common modification made by soldiers during the period. The insignia consists of a BeVo-style national eagle and a matching cockade roundel, both of which show signs of age and service wear. The interior is lined with grey cotton showing minor wear and is stamped with the size 56. The manufacturer mark and date remain visible on the lining.
The wool body shows some small areas of moth tracking across the surface, but the structure remains sound. This is a representative example of specialized branch-of-service headgear from the mid-war period.
