This is a parade-style NCO tunic constructed from material often associated with officer quality uniforms, representing the formal dress of a senior non-commissioned officer in the Wehrmacht. This particular tunic is notable for belonging to a Der Spieß (Company Sergeant Major), typically the most senior NCO in a company.
The tunic features the appropriate black Waffenfarbe (branch colour) piping throughout, correctly identifying it as belonging to a Pioneer unit. The rank is designated by the stitched-in shoulder boards for the rank of Oberfeldwebel in Pioneer Regiment number 27. The collar features parade-style silver-on-black collar patches set against a dark green collar, which is matched by the dark green cuffs. A single row of NCO tresse (braid) is fitted above the dark green cuffs.
Unfortunately, the tunic has suffered from some degree of moth damage. The most significant loss is concentrated on the upper front right-hand breast panel, with a further area of damage to the lower front left-hand panel, and some scattered damage to the sleeve and cuff areas. The breast eagle has been removed, leaving no evidence of its pattern. The tunic has loops fitted for three awards and a single medal ribbon bar.
