German WWII Army M40 Matt Finish Previously Wire-Covered Combat Helmet

A well-presented example of an M40 Army combat helmet, featuring a secondary brush-applied matt grey finish. The helmet once had a wire camouflage cradle fitted, now removed but with its outline still clearly visible across the shell. The heavy paint layer obscures the shell size stamp, though the liner—appearing to be approximately size 56—remains complete. The liner stitching has deteriorated, separating it into two halves, yet the leather retains good colour with some areas of solidification. An excellent example showing authentic field modification and service wear.
