This is a high-quality Army General's Bergmutze constructed from fine melton cloth. The cap is in a state of minimal service wear and is a size 58. As is typical for privately tailored General's headdress, the interior does not bear a maker's mark, though it is clearly ink-stamped with the size.
The interior features a silk lining and a small light brown leather sweatband at the forehead. On the exterior, the high-quality cloth is well-preserved. All ventilation eyelets retain their original paint finish. The gold piping along the crown shows no signs of oxidation, and both gold-coloured front buttons retain a high level of their original finish, consistent with the overall state of the cap.
The insignia consists of a one-piece triangular BeVo eagle and cockade, executed in silver wire. This is the correct specification for an early-war General's cap, as later examples transitioned to gold-coloured embroidery. There is very slight wear visible at the front apex of the crown and on the head of the eagle.
