This is a very fine example of a high-ranking officer's field headwear, being a German Army General’s M.43 cap. It is constructed from high-quality Melton wool material, signifying the superior grade typically private-purchased by general officers. The crown is correctly piped with gold bullion waffenfarbe, which remains in very nice condition.

The insignia is of the correct pattern for this rank, featuring a Bevo gold eagle on a green background. Positioned below the eagle is a bullion wire cockade, notably featuring an outer ring in gold rather than the standard silver. The front of the cap is secured by two gold-finished buttons. There is no moth damage to be found anywhere on the exterior of the cap.

The interior shows evidence of extensive service use. The leather sweatband has split in three places, reflecting the wear consistent with a field-used item. The lining is made of green satin and retains an oval-shaped manufacturer’s label for the firm Wehrmeier of Braunschweig. This cap represents a rare and prestigious piece of high-command field uniform.
