A superb and high-quality example of a privately made Army General’s Bergmütze, constructed from fine melton cloth and showing only very light signs of wear. Sized “58” with a smooth silk lining, the interior lacks a maker’s mark, as is typical for custom-tailored General officer headgear, but is ink stamped with the size.
The brow features a small panel of light brown leather, while the gold piping along the crown remains bright and unoxidized. Both front buttons retain a high level of original finish, matching the overall excellent condition of the piece. The one-piece triangular Bevo insignia is executed in silver wire—correct for early-war General’s caps, as later models used gold thread. All air vents are intact with original paint.
There is minor wear to the front crown apex and slight thinning on the eagle’s head within the cap insignia, but these are minimal and do not detract from the overall presentation. A beautiful and extremely well-preserved example of high-ranking Third Reich officer’s headgear.
