This is a magnificent example of a high-quality officer's visor cap produced by the renowned firm of Robert Lubstein, under the brand name Erel. The cap bears triple Erel markings and is constructed from the finest materials. While not size stamped, it fits approximately as a size 59 or 60 and retains a perfect saddle shape.

The cap is made from standard field grey-green wool and features the distinct orange waffenfarbe piping associated with both the Recruiting District and the Field Police branches. This piping is present on the crown and at the top and bottom edges of the dark green badge cloth centre band. It is fitted with a matching set of stamped aluminium national insignia. Notably, the central cockade is the patented Erel vented style, which provides airflow through to the interior of the cap. The assembly is finished with silver-coloured officer's chin cords and pebbled side buttons.

The interior is lined in a gold-coloured material and remains in superb condition. The light tan leather sweatband is stamped with bright silver Erel Stirnschutz markings and shows more signs of age from storage than of actual service wear. Beneath the complete and undamaged centre celluloid lozenge is a deep, bright silver maker's stamp. It also retains the remains of its original Erel paper label which was stitched into the cap during production. The fibre peak shows some slight age-related crazing, but the cap is otherwise free of moth damage, staining, or distortion.
