A rare piece of headdress from the army, being a size 57 officers' overseas cap, completely moth-free. Silver piping to the crown and front scallop of the cap. Fitted with the officer's heavy bullion wire eagle with a matching bullion cockade. Inverted V Waffenfarbe of violet for the Chaplains Department. Between the eagle and the cockade, there is a small size Chaplains Cross fitted. To the interior, the grey green satin lining is in excellent condition with a light tan leather forehead sweatband, which is stamped ‘Qualitat Marke’. Accompanying the hat is the photograph of the original owner of the cap wearing his Chaplain's uniform, but in this photograph, wearing the visor cap.
