A fabulous example of an Allgemeine SS SD tunic, constructed in heavy grained twill material, size large. The tunic shows minimal wear with one patched moth or rodent hole measuring approximately 3.5 cm by 2 cm on the upper back panel and a minor moth nip on one deep turn-back cuff. Privately tailored, it retains faint remnants of an Aachen tailor’s label.

Features include officers’ twisted cord on the collar, a single shoulder board corresponding to the rank of Untersturmführer from the period 1934 to 1942, and the characteristic blank left collar patch typical of SD tunics. The opposite collar patch bears three rank pips.

The high-quality multi-constructed Allgemeine SS armband has a small moth nip to the red field. An officer’s SD lozenge is affixed to the lower left sleeve, accompanied by a blank cuff title with seven silver strands. The tunic is fitted with loops above the upper left pocket for a long medal ribbon bar and loops below for an additional award.

All buttons are marked ‘Assmann,’ with the belt support buttons at the rear also marked and dated 1937. A finely detailed Old Fighters chevron is positioned on the centre of the right sleeve as worn.

A very fine and historically significant tunic associated with the Gestapo.
