An impressive example of an early Allgemeine SS officers’ display piece featuring an 80cm non maker-marked blade in excellent condition. The piece is fitted with a highly nickel-plated D-guard hilt that retains most of its original plating, showing only minor losses. The ebony wood grip remains undamaged and is complemented by a high-quality SS runic center symbol.
On removal of the knurled nut, the protected tang cap inside is revealed—an authentic feature found on all early examples. The leather washer is complete and intact. Below the D-ring crossguard, the SS runic stamping matches the runic symbol found on the upper throat of the scabbard. Both scabbard mounts are present and retain much of their original finish, with some light scratching noted on the lower mount. The scabbard’s original black paint remains fully intact and includes a metallic clip marked OLC, fitted to the black hanging strap.
A very good and authentic example, well-suited for collectors of Third Reich militaria.
