German WWII Adolf Hitler Wreath Ribbon

This wreath ribbon is the type used for official state funerals and commemorative ceremonies during the Third Reich. Measuring a full 160 cm in length, these ribbons were attached to floral tributes laid by or on behalf of the head of state at the graves of significant military and political figures.

The ribbon is constructed from watered red silk, which shows some expected age-related fading. The designation Der Fuhrer is clearly visible, applied in gilt lettering onto the silk. Both ends of the ribbon are finished with their original gold fringe. The centerpiece features a high-quality hand-embroidered representation of the Fuhrer Standard, measuring 7 x 7 cm. The embroidery is executed to an exceptional standard, using gilt wire and bordered by black and white silk ribbon. There is some light staining visible within the white areas of the central motif.

These ribbons are significant historical artifacts from the elaborate state funerals of the 1930s and 40s. They represent the high level of craftsmanship devoted to official state protocol and ceremonial items of the period.
