The German A-Frame (A-Rahmen) was a vital piece of personal equipment, designed to carry the soldier's combat pack, blanket, shelter quarter (Zeltbahn), and other essential field gear. The supplement bag, often attached to the base of the A-Frame, was a relatively rare accessory, intended to provide crucial extra storage capacity for rations or specialised items.
This example is a superb representation of this specialised component. The bag features all black leather fittings, which are in excellent condition and clearly detailed with good, clean white stitching, contrasting sharply with the black leather. All internal attachment straps, used for securing the bag to the A-Frame structure, are likewise fashioned from black leather and are entirely complete.
The bag retains all its correct hardware, including the small Zeltbahn buttons used for closure and attachment, as well as the original attachment cords on the reverse side. This piece is a high-quality example of the comprehensive German combat gear system.
