A very interesting album containing 59 images, the first is of a large German observation balloon with a large Iron Cross on the side being hoisted aloft, followed by Western Front images. Groups of army officers and NCOs. Air-to-ground shots. Destroyed buildings. An excellent shot, side-on view, very large format of a Maxim 08 being used in its anti-aircraft role with its three-man gunner crew and NCO observing, followed by more images of balloons being hoisted aloft. An excellent large shot of a captured French aircraft with unusual insignia on the fuselage. More images of officers being hoisted into observation balloons. 17 loose images, all large format excellent exposure of close-ups of all the balloon unit's equipment, trolleyed radio telephone units, the winch vehicles, portable hangers, a balloon crashed in a forest, an observer just being lifted off the ground in the balloon, wearing his full flying equipment. Excellent close-ups of the wicker basket. Accompanying the album is the owner's WWII Third Reich period wherpass. A photograph of himself in civilian dress, age of birth 1894. Pages 12 and 13 give a full list of his units and service from 1914 through to 1918 in balloon units. A good album for the ballooning enthusiast.
