An unusually large size example of a Baden-used universal 1917 field cap. The cap features a slightly darker green centre band contrasted by a lighter green crown. There is some light moth damage scattered across the fabric, visible in detailed web images.
Complete with original national and Baden cockades for enlisted ranks, and fitted with its original adjustable leather chinstrap. The peak is soft and crushable, typical of this pattern.
The interior contains an ersatz-style sweatband, which is split in one area but otherwise intact. The lining is light tan with a retailer’s mark for Erwin Neier of Durlach (Baden) visible inside. The lining shows some water staining consistent with age.
A good-sized and rare regional example of this wartime field cap.
