A scarce and desirable helmet from the Imperial German series, this officers shako was worn by the Imperial German Marines of the See Battalion. It features a black patent crown along with front and back peaks, complemented by black cloth sides. The shako is fitted with its distinctive See Battalion officers front plate, flat chin scales, one officers side cockade, and the officers See Battalion wire-woven bullion field cockade.
The cloth sides show light moth damage and thinning of the nap, though all peaks remain securely attached. Inside, the mid-tan leather sweatband is intact and shows signs of wear consistent with use. The original green inner lining remains, with a pencil mark indicating a size of 54 ½ on the upper inner crown.
This is a rare and important piece of Imperial German headdress. Additional detailed images are available on our Premium website—please visit regimentalsmilitaria.co.uk.
