German WWI Schutztruppe for South West Africa Hat

A very fine, untouched example of the NCO and other ranks hat designated for the Schutztruppe in South West Africa.

The hat band and trim are entirely in green, featuring the exact weave and quality officially designated for non-commissioned officers and other ranks. For precise comparison, please refer to The German Colonial Troops 1889 to 1918, page 284. The hat brim is secured to the main body by a press stud. The hat shows minor storage staining consistent with age, one small moth nip, and some slight moth tracking to both the outer and lower brim. It is internally maker stamped for the famous Munich store, 'F & A Oiringar'.
