GERMAN WWI SAXON REGT 106 MODEL 1887 PICKELHAUBE

A rare leather pickelhaube model 1887 for an infantryman from the Saxon Infantry Regiment 106. Unusually, the helmet is also stamped 1885, which is two years before the official introduction of the model date. All brass fittings with Saxon front plate, correct style of chinstrap, and one Saxon cockade to the right-hand side, which is standard for that period. The green and white Saxon State cockade would appear to be a later replacement. Faint traces of the original owner's name on the inner back peak, the skull is good and very strong.
