A good example of a World War I German enlisted man’s leather Pickelhaube from a Saxon infantry regiment. The helmet presents well overall, with only light surface crazing to the leather skull. Both the front and rear peaks are firmly attached to the body, though a few stitches are loose on the rear peak, typical of age.

All external fittings match in finish and patina, including the backstrap, non-removable spike with circular base, front plate, and peak trim. The original leather chinstrap is intact and accompanied by both its national and Saxon state cockades, adding to the helmet’s authenticity.

To the interior, the leather liner is present but with nearly all tongues now absent due to age. Importantly, there are no extra holes to the leather body, indicating the fittings remain in their original positions.

A classic and increasingly scarce wartime Saxon example, showing honest age and wear, ideal for display or study.
