German WWI Saxon Leib Grenadier Regiment No.100 Officers Pickelhaube

A good mid-upper size all-leather pickelhaube for an officer of the distinguished Saxon Leib Grenadier Regiment No.100; this example displays a well-preserved leather skull showing overall crazing and light congealing, with both peaks securely attached. All exterior fittings are in white metal, contrasted by gilded stars on the circular spike base and a gilded Saxon overlay on the silvered front plate. The correct silvered flat chin scales remain intact, along with both national and Saxon cockades in the non-serrated edge Saxon style.

To the interior, the mid-brown leather sweatband is complete, showing signs of substantial use and one small split at the forehead. The helmet retains its original inner silk lining, a feature rarely surviving intact. A fine example of an Imperial German officer’s dress helmet with strong regional identity and period character.
