An extremely scarce and highly sought-after all-leather Pickelhaube; issued to an enlisted man of the Saxon Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 100. This regiment is notable for its distinctive use of white metal fittings for both officer and enlisted ranks—making this helmet immediately recognisable.

The leather skull is in good condition with overall surface crazing; both front and rear peaks show some congealing but remain securely stitched to the body. The helmet is fitted with its correct non-removable white metal spike and spike base, a white metal back strap (slightly distorted), and the large Saxon starburst front plate with a gilded Saxon shield overlay. The white metal front peak trim is present and unusually free of kinks or damage.

Complete with its original chinstrap fitted with all white metal hardware, including strap posts, and its correct Saxon non-serrated national and state cockades. The Saxon cockade shows minor paint loss due to rusting.

Internally, the 10-tongued leather liner is mostly intact, though one tongue shows slight fragility. The original leather drawstring is still present. The helmet is profusely stamped to the rear peak with multiple dates: ‘1901’, ‘1898’, and regimental marking ‘100R’ with a further date ending in ‘98’.

One internal securing nut for the back strap is missing, but this does not affect the structural integrity or display value. A fine and regimentally marked example of a very rare Saxon Pickelhaube.
