A very large-sized officer’s Pickelhaube helmet from Saxon Infantry Regiment 100, the only Saxon regiment distinguished by all silver fittings. Officially titled the 1st Leib Grenadier Regiment, this helmet features a predominantly fibre construction with an excellent skull, showing only one minor indentation to the rear right crown. There is slight creasing at the lower rear edge of the crown where it meets the rear peak, but both front and rear peaks remain firmly attached.

The silver fittings display a pleasing aged patina, nicely toned with time. The distinctive protruding Saxon front plate is crafted in silver with a gilded overlay, accompanied by larger Saxon-style non-serrated edge national and state cockades.

Inside, the mid-brown scalloped-edge sweatband shows wear consistent with age and use, paired with an inner light tan silk lining also exhibiting wear. The front and rear inner peaks are lined in red and green, respectively. This piece is accompanied by its original carrying box.
