German WWI Reich Gendarmerie Luger Holster

A very rare holster designed for the Reich Gendarmerie, modeled on the standard Luger P08 holster but with an added rear suspension system, both stitched and riveted to the main body. It features a forward-facing belt loop system intended for mounted troops. The stitching is strong and intact, with both belt loops present. The maker’s name, marked in Strasbourg, has a puncture through it. The back strap is marked ‘R.G.14’ and the interior of the holster carries the same unit marking. A small section of the holster appears to have been cut away, possibly to accommodate a different pistol. Complete with its original closing strap, this is an exceptionally rare Luger accessory, issued to the occupation police of Alsace-Lorraine between 1870 and 1918.
