An all leather pickelhaube with excellent condition skull, crazed overall, the front and rear peaks securely attached to the main body. One kink and a minor repair to the front peak trim, which is unusually maker-stamped. All the brass fittings match the back strap, non-removable spike, circular spike base, Prussian front plate, strap fittings and front peak trim. The leather strap would appear to be a replacement, the national and state cockades original. To the interior, the liner is present, with slight mouse damage to the lower front edge in the forehead area. All tongues secure, with their original leather drawstring. Very faint markings to ‘Infantry Regiment Herzog Ferdinand Von Braunschweig, the 8th Westfalian number 57 2nd Battalion’ dated ‘1907’. Good colour to the interior shell, no size stamped, but on test 53 or 54.
