A superb officers-quality Prussian pickelhaube exhibiting minor, expected crazing to the leather skull but no damage. The rear peak shows slight distortion; however, both peaks remain securely stitched to the helmet’s body with strong, intact seams. All fittings are crafted in white metal, including the back strap, screwable spike with circular spike base, the iconic Prussian front plate, and front peak trim. The gilt chinstraps feature white metal end caps, while the stars on the spike base are also gilded, highlighting the officer’s status. Equipped with the correct Prussian and national officers’ quality cockades. The interior tan leather lining is well-preserved, showing only light wear, with the original inner silk lining intact. Marked ‘56½’ in pencil inside. The upper inner dome retains its original rich mid-tan leather color. A fine example of a WWI Prussian Pioneer Battalion officer’s pickelhaube.
