An exceptional all-leather Prussian officers pickelhaube in magnificent condition. The main body has naturally aged to a soft satin patina, typical of high-quality leather examples, with front and rear peaks securely attached, both showing natural congealing of the leather.
The gilt fittings—including the removable spike, spike base, cruciform, stars, back strap, Prussian front plate, domed chin scales, and front square-edged peak trim—remain excellent. The helmet is fitted with its correct officer-quality national and state cockades.
Inside, the light tan leather sweatband shows minimal wear, complemented by its original green satin inner lining. A pencil notation inside reads ’59 or 57½’, though the second digit is slightly indistinct. A fine, very impressive example of a Prussian officers pickelhaube.
