A beautifully preserved all-leather pickelhaube in superb condition. Both front and rear peaks are securely attached to the main body—an important feature, as stitching often deteriorates with age causing peaks to loosen. The helmet displays excellent gilt overall, featuring the Prussian front plate and the reserve officer’s cross.
It includes standard flat chin scales and both national and state cockades. The long plume holder retains its original black plume—unique to Fusilier Regiment 80, the only Prussian infantry regiment authorized to wear a black plume.
The interior features a light tan sweatband with minor wear and an upper inner silk liner in excellent condition. The helmet bears the old pre-metric size annotation “56 ¾” penciled on the light tan upper inner skull area. It is complete with its original cylindrical plume box.
This helmet configuration was also worn by Prussian Infantry Regiment 25 and Prussian Fusilier Regiment 86.
