A lovely condition all-leather pickelhaube in superb order, both peaks securely attached to the main body. We consistently mention this in our descriptions of pickelhaubes, one of the problems of age is that the stitching holding the front and rear peaks does rot, and the peaks come adrift. Excellent gilt overall with its Prussian front plate and its reserve officer's cross. Standard flat chin scales, both national and State cockades. Long plume holder with its black plume. Fusilier Regiment 80 were the only Prussian Infantry Regiment to wear a black plume. The interior light tan sweatband is showing minor wear and use, the upper inner silk is again in superb condition. The old pre-metric size of 56 ¾ pencil was annotated to the light tan upper inner skull area. The helmet is complete with its cylindrical box for the plume. The helmet in this configuration was also worn by Prussian Infantry Regiment 25 and Prussian Fusilier Regiment 86.
