GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN FELT PICKELHAUBE

A very nice large size all felt bodied pickelhaube. The felt helmets are very susceptible to damage, and this one has an excellent skull; there is one slight tear at the join of the rear peak to the main body, otherwise excellent overall. The front peak trim never fitted this well. Brass non-removable spike and circular spike base. Standard Prussian plate, all complete with its chinstrap, national and State cockades. To the interior, the leather liner is virtually complete; the tips of two tongues are missing. There is a size label ‘58’ and regimental mark, which unfortunately is indistinct, but with a ‘1916’ clear date to the inner rear peak in indelible ink. A very nice example.
