A very fine large-size all-felt pickelhaube, remarkable for its excellent condition given the fragile nature of felt helmets. The skull remains largely intact with only a minor tear where the rear peak joins the main body, otherwise superb overall. Featuring a brass fixed spike and circular spike base, both non-removable. The standard Prussian front plate is complete and complemented by its original chinstrap, as well as both national and state cockades. Inside, the leather liner is almost entirely intact, with just the tips of two tongues missing. A size label marked ‘58’ is present, along with a regimental marking—unfortunately indistinct—plus a clearly dated ‘1916’ in indelible ink on the inner rear peak. A rare and very attractive example of a Prussian felt pickelhaube.
